Originally intended for a special edition of the Divine Comedy by the Italian government, which planned to feature Dalí's illustrations, the project faced opposition from Communists who objected to a Spaniard illustrating Italy's revered poet. As a compromise, the government opted to release commemorative postage stamps instead.
This woodblock engraving is in excellent condition and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, affirming its legitimacy and provenance.
