"Heaven Canto 10" by Salvador Dalí is a woodblock engraving created in 1960, sized at 13 x 10.5 inches. This artwork is a part of Dalí's interpretation of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, depicting scenes of the afterlife where Vergil guides Dante through Hell and Purgatory, and Beatrice through Paradise.
Originally intended for a special edition of the Divine Comedy by the Italian government, Dalí's illustrations faced opposition from Communists who protested against a Spaniard illustrating Italy's esteemed poet. As a result, the government opted to issue commemorative postage stamps instead.
Despite being unsigned, this woodblock engraving is in excellent condition and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, affirming its provenance and authenticity. Its association with one of literature's greatest works and Dalí's unique artistic interpretation make it a compelling piece for collectors interested in surrealism and cultural history.
